DSG

The Decision Systems Group is a biomedical informatics research laboratory in the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. DSG's research is funded primarily by NIH grants and is not exclusive to radiology: most of our projects involve clinical collaborators in other medical specialties, as well as biologists, epidemiologists, and health services researchers.

DSG offers biomedical informatics training to predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, who carry out activities in research and development with the faculty. These activities involve development and application of novel quantitative methods and software in a variety of clinical and biological domains, with collaborators in academia and industry. Our research in global health informatics, clinical informatics, consumer health informatics, and bioinformatics involves local and international groups. Alumni from our training program have become leaders at different research and teaching institutions, as well as large corporations.

Our mission is to train the next generation of biomedical informatics researchers by combining structured coursework and hands on research experience. We strongly support the enrollment of our trainees in degree programs. DSG faculty teach core curriculum courses in biomedical informatics at Harvard-MIT, and advise students in different programs. A limited number of funded RAships is available through our research grants.
